Model prefixes On the data plate
The data plate is behind the door or inside the cabinet. That prefix tells us the platform before we leave the shop, which is how the right part ends up on the van.
Thermador is one of the few luxury brands that genuinely spans the whole kitchen. On the cooking side: Pro Grand and Professional ranges and rangetops, Masterpiece and Professional wall ovens, steam and speed ovens, warming drawers, Star Burner gas cooktops, and the Freedom and Liberty induction cooktops. On the cold side: the Freedom Collection columns — panel-ready refrigerator, freezer and wine columns in 18, 24, 30 and 36 inch widths — plus undercounter units. We also work on Sapphire and Emerald dishwashers and Thermador ventilation.
Thermador sits inside BSH Home Appliances alongside Bosch, Siemens and Gaggenau. That shared parent is a practical advantage: parts channels are well established and lead times on common components are shorter than for low-volume boutique brands.
Ignition on Star Burner cooktops. The most frequent Thermador call we take. The star-shaped burner puts flame across more of the pan, and the spark electrode sits right where spillover lands. A wet electrode or an off-center burner cap means the module never confirms flame, so it keeps sparking after the burner is lit. Clean it, dry it, seat the cap flat. If all positions spark together, or sparking continues with every knob off, the module or a switch has failed.
ExtraLow simmer. The cycling simmer control is one of the features people buy Thermador for, and when it stops holding a low flame it is very noticeable. That is a control problem, not a burner problem, and it is diagnosed differently.
Induction. Freedom and Liberty cooktops run on electronics under the glass, cooled by fans that pull air from below. Blocked airflow — a drawer packed to the ceiling, a filler panel installed tight, years of dust — causes thermal shutdowns that look exactly like a failing cooktop. We check airflow before condemning a power module, because the module is the expensive part. A single zone that no longer detects cookware is a different fault, pointing at that zone’s coil or driver.
Ovens. Temperature sensors drift, bake and broil elements open, and relays on the control board stop closing reliably. Self-clean is where a marginal part finally dies; a door that stays locked or a control that goes dark after a clean cycle is common and usually repairable. Steam ovens want descaling on schedule — skipped cycles fill the boiler and the fill line with deposit, and that accounts for most steam oven faults we see.
Freedom columns. These are separate appliances behind matching cabinet panels, each with its own sealed system and serial tag, which is why one column can run warm while the one beside it is fine. Recurring items: evaporator fan motors, defrost systems that stop clearing the coil, ice makers that stop filling, and doors drifted out of alignment. A column door carries a heavy custom panel; when the adjustment moves, one corner stops sealing and you get condensation, frost and a compressor that never rests. Adjustment usually fixes it. We do not sell a gasket unless the gasket is torn.
We install genuine OEM Thermador parts. Ignition modules, burner caps and control boards vary by production run, so we verify against the serial tag rather than assuming from the model. On the columns, gaskets and hinge hardware are width-specific — an 18 inch wine column and a 30 inch refrigerator column share a design language and nothing else.
Pulling a panel-ready column for compressor or fan access is the point at which cabinetry gets damaged. We protect the floor and adjacent cabinet faces first, and detach the custom door panel properly rather than working around it.
We are an independent appliance repair company. We are not an authorized Thermador or BSH service center and we make no such claim. If your appliance is inside its factory warranty, call Thermador and use their network — that work should be covered and we will say so rather than take the job.
Out of warranty, using an independent shop is entirely legitimate. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act a manufacturer cannot void a warranty simply because an independent company did the work or a non-branded part was installed.
Diagnostic is a flat $129, credited toward the repair once you approve it, with a written estimate first. We cover a 40-mile drive radius from Fruit Cove, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm. Call +1 (904) 977-8701. On a column the serial tag is inside the cabinet near the top; on a range it is behind the kick panel.

Maintenance
Month by month, by appliance type, tuned to Northeast Florida pollen, humidity and storm season. What genuinely extends appliance life and what does nothing.
Troubleshooting
One compartment warm, the other frozen solid. On a built-in with two evaporators that pattern is normal, and it rules out most of the fault list fast.
Troubleshooting
Brew groups, burrs, pumps and flow meters. What goes wrong inside a built-in espresso system, what an owner can fix, and when the unit has to come out.
Installation Pro only
Riverside, Avondale, Old Ortega and San Marco kitchens were not built for 48-inch built-ins. What to measure, what to rewire, and what the floor will carry.
Troubleshooting
Poor wash results have three common causes and only one of them needs a part. How to separate restricted spray arms from a blinded filter and a failing pump.
Cost & warranty
Magnuson-Moss stated accurately, both halves. What a manufacturer cannot do, what it still can, and when to call the factory instead of an independent.
Thermador is part of BSH Home Appliances, the group that also owns Bosch, Siemens and Gaggenau. That shared engineering matters for service: some component families and diagnostic approaches carry across the group, and parts sourcing runs through the same channel. It is one reason Thermador parts availability tends to be better than smaller luxury brands.
Induction electronics generate real heat and are cooled by fans that draw air through the underside of the cooktop. If the airflow is blocked by a drawer, a filler panel or accumulated dust, the unit protects itself by shutting the zone or the whole surface down. When airflow is clear and it still cuts out, the usual cause is a failing power module or a cooling fan that has stopped.
No. We are an independent appliance repair company with no affiliation with, authorization from or endorsement by Thermador or BSH Home Appliances. We repair Thermador appliances and install genuine OEM parts. If your appliance is still inside the factory warranty, contact Thermador and use their service network, since that work should be covered.
Usually not yet. On Star Burner cooktops the spark electrode sits in the flame path and is exposed to anything that boils over. Moisture or a burner cap that is not seated squarely stops the module from confirming flame, so it keeps sparking. Dry the area, reseat the cap, and try again. Clicking on every position at once, or with all knobs off, points at the ignition module or a spark switch.
They are separate appliances that happen to be installed side by side behind matching panels. Each column has its own sealed system, its own controls and its own serial tag, so one can fail while the other runs normally. Tell us which column is affected and give us both model numbers, because they are usually different units.
In most cases yes. Column doors carry a heavy custom cabinet panel, and over time the hinge adjustment and the panel mounting can move, especially after cabinetry work elsewhere in the run. That leaves a gap at one corner, which shows up as condensation, frost or a compressor that never stops. Adjustment comes first. Gasket replacement only if the seal itself is torn or has taken a set.
Customer feedback
Rated 4.8 out of 5 across 72 customer reviews. Every one of these was a visit to this make of appliance.
Cormac S.Jun 1, 2026
The double oven threw a lock fault after every self clean. The latch motor cam had worn flat. He replaced the assembly and suggested running the lower cavity clean less aggressively. There has been no fault since.
Rowan P.Dec 2, 2025
The door alarm kept sounding even with the door shut. A hinge had sagged so the seal never fully met the frame. He adjusted it and replaced the gasket, but the gasket had to be ordered and that meant a return trip.
Bertram C.Apr 13, 2026
The steam oven door would not lock so no cycle would start. The latch solenoid had burned out. He replaced it with the latch assembly, then checked the door alignment because the old one had been fighting the frame.
