Warranty

What we guarantee, and what your manufacturer does

Two different things get called “warranty” in this business, and companies blur them on purpose. Here they are separately.

Part one

What we stand behind

Our labor

90 days

If the fault we repaired comes back inside that window, we return and there is no second diagnostic fee. This covers our workmanship — the diagnosis and the fitting.

Parts we install

365 days

A full year on every genuine OEM part we fit. If a part fails within that year, the replacement and the labor to fit it are both covered.

What is not covered

  • A different fault, on a different component, later on
  • Damage from a power surge, flood or physical impact after the repair
  • Consumables — water filters and air purification cartridges
  • Cosmetic wear on stainless panels and handles
  • Faults caused by another company's later work on the same unit

Part two

Your factory warranty, honestly explained

This is the part most independent shops are vague about, because being clear costs them jobs. We would rather you knew.

If your appliance is still inside its full factory warranty

Call the manufacturer, not us. Sub-Zero's residential warranty covers all parts and labor for two years from installation, and the sealed system — compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier and connecting tubing — for five years, parts and labor. Their document states that service under those terms must be performed by Sub-Zero Factory Certified Service. We are not part of that network, so a repair we did in that window would come out of your pocket instead of theirs.

You can find who holds that designation in your ZIP code on Sub-Zero's own service locator, or by calling their customer care line. We will tell you the same thing on the phone.

Years six to twelve — where an independent shop is a real option

Sub-Zero's limited twelve-year sealed-system warranty covers those same sealed-system parts for twelve years, on a parts-only basis. Their own warranty document addresses what happens if you use a non-certified company: you contact Sub-Zero directly to obtain the covered replacement part, and you pay everything else, including labor.

What this means in practice

On a nine-year-old unit with a failed compressor, you can get the compressor from Sub-Zero under their limited warranty and have us install it. Two things matter: the part has to come from Sub-Zero, not from us — they state plainly that they will not reimburse parts bought from other sources — and the labor is yours to pay. We will walk you through the call.

Does using us void anything?

No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because an independent company serviced the appliance or because a non-manufacturer part was used. The FTC has sent warning letters to companies making exactly that claim, most recently in 2024.

The honest limit on that: it does not mean Sub-Zero owes us money for warranty work, and it does not entitle you to free labor from a non-certified shop. Anyone telling you otherwise is overselling the law.

Warranty questions

What warranty do you give on the repair?

Ninety days on our labor and a full year on the parts we install. If the same fault returns inside that window, we come back and there is no second diagnostic fee.

Will using an independent shop void my manufacturer warranty?

No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because an independent company did the work. That said, if your appliance is still inside its full factory warranty, the manufacturer's own certified network is the right call — they will do it at no cost to you, and we will tell you so.

Not sure which warranty you are under?

Read us the model and serial number and we will tell you how old the unit is and what is likely still covered — even when the answer is that you should call the manufacturer instead of us.
