Sub-Zero repair in Jacksonville, by technicians who work on built-ins all day

A Sub-Zero is not an appliance you replace. It is millwork with two sealed systems inside it, built to run for twenty-five years. We keep them running — and we do the sealed-system work most shops will not touch.

The one we are known for

Why a warm Sub-Zero is not the same problem as a warm refrigerator

Every full-size Sub-Zero has two completely separate sealed systems — two compressors, two evaporators. The fresh-food side is kept cool and moist; the freezer is kept frigid and dry.

That is why a Sub-Zero can sit at 55°F on the refrigerator side while the freezer holds a perfect 0°F. On any ordinary refrigerator that would be a contradiction. On a Sub-Zero it is the normal presentation of a specific failure, and it tells a technician which of the two systems to open. A shop that talks about the compressor has never worked on one.

It also explains why these units are worth repairing. A replacement runs into five figures once the cabinetry is reworked around it. A sealed-system repair does not.

Series we work on

  • CL Classic — current
  • BI Built-In — 2008 to 2022
  • DEC / DET Designer — current
  • IT / IC / ID Integrated — legacy
  • PRO Professional, and the 648PRO
  • 400 Wine storage
  • UC Undercounter and ice
  • 600 / 700 Legacy, 1996 to 2009

The old names are still the ones people use. “Built-In” became Classic, and “Integrated” became Designer — but nearly all the service work is in the legacy units, and we keep both vocabularies because our customers do.

Built-in, integrated and panel-ready appliances

The appliances that were installed into the cabinetry rather than pushed into a gap — where a replacement means a carpenter as well as a delivery truck.

How a service call works

No surprises, in either direction

  1. 01

You call with the model number

The data plate is behind the door or inside the cabinet. That number tells us the series, the platform, and which parts fit before we leave the shop.

  2. 02

We arrive in a two-hour window

With a call ahead, floor protection and shoe covers. Most of St. Johns and south Duval gets a same-day or next-day slot.

  3. 03

You get a written price first

The $129 diagnostic covers a full diagnosis. You see parts and labor in writing, and nothing is opened up until you approve it.

  4. 04

We fix it, and we stand behind it

Genuine OEM parts, 90 days on our labor and 365 days on parts. If the same fault comes back, so do we.

Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove are the core of what we do. These are the others we see every week across St. Johns and Duval County.

St. Johns County, all of Duval, and the populated parts of Clay. We publish drive times, not straight-line distances — with this many bridges the two are not close.

Customer feedback

What customers said afterwards

Rated 4.8 out of 5 across 72 customer reviews. Three of them, picked without a thumb on the scale.

Corinne D.Mar 4, 2026

The brewer stopped mid cycle and flashed for water with a full tank. He found the flow meter blocked with scale off our hard supply, descaled the circuit and rebuilt the brew unit seals. It has pulled a clean cup every morning since.

Verity S.Jan 22, 2026

The oven side of our range was running well under the dial and everything came out pale. He recalibrated it against a probe, then found the door seal had shrunk at one corner and replaced it. Baking is even again.

Grant W.Apr 16, 2026

Water was pooling under the crisper every few days. The drain trough had frozen over, which he thawed before fitting the correct heat clip so it runs away properly. There are no more towels living under that drawer.

What people ask before they book

How soon can you get here?

Most of our service area gets a same-day or next-day appointment. We work in two-hour arrival windows and call ahead when the technician is on the way. Fruit Cove, Mandarin, Bartram Park and Julington Creek are usually same day; Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine and the Beaches are typically next day.

What does the service call cost?

A flat $129 diagnostic fee covers the trip and a full diagnosis, and it is credited toward the repair when you approve the work. You get the price in writing before anything is opened up. We do not quote repairs over the phone, because a guess is worth nothing to either of us.

Are you a Sub-Zero authorized service center?

No, and we will never say otherwise. We are an independent appliance repair company with no affiliation to Sub-Zero Group, Inc. Factory Certified Service is a separate, invite-only manufacturer program, and you can check who holds it in your ZIP code at subzero-wolf.com/locator or by calling Sub-Zero Customer Care.

Can you actually do sealed-system work?

Yes. Our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification, which federal law requires to open a sealed refrigeration system, and we perform compressor, evaporator, drier and tubing repairs in the home. Many companies will replace a fan or a board and then declare a unit unrepairable, because sealed-system work is the line they cannot cross.

How far do you travel?

Roughly forty miles by road from our base in Fruit Cove. That covers St. Johns County, all of Duval, and the populated parts of Clay County, including Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, St. Augustine, the Beaches, Orange Park and Fleming Island.
